Submission Guidelines
Before submitting your reflection, please ensure it meets these requirements:
Confidentiality (Essential)
- Remove ALL identifying information about patients, families, colleagues, and workplaces
- Use pseudonyms (e.g., "Sarah" not real names)
- Don't include specific locations, ward names, or trust names
- Ensure no one could be identified from the details you've shared
- Remember: you're responsible for maintaining confidentiality in line with the NMC Code
Content Requirements
- Describe a genuine learning experience from your practice
- Reference the NMC Code appropriately
- Demonstrate how your practice changed or developed
- Be approximately 450-700 words
- Use professional language while being authentic
- Focus on your learning, not criticizing others
Structure
Your reflection should include:
- What happened (the situation or experience)
- What you learned from it
- How it changed your practice
- Links to the NMC Code
- Impact on patient care or professional development
What Happens After You Submit?
- Review: We review all submissions to ensure they meet NMC standards and protect confidentiality
- Editing: We may make minor edits for clarity or to ensure anonymity
- Confirmation: We'll contact you if we plan to publish your reflection
- Publication: Your reflection will be published on our blog with your chosen attribution (anonymous or first name/initial)
- Community impact: Your reflection will help other healthcare professionals learn and grow
How to Submit Your Reflection

In your submission, please include:
- Your reflection (as a Word document or in the email body)
- Your preferred attribution (e.g., "Anonymous Adult Nurse", "J.K. - Mental Health Nurse", "Experienced Midwife")
- Your nursing/midwifery field (adult, mental health, children's, learning disabilities, midwifery, nursing associate)
- Confirmation that you've removed all identifying information
- Your consent for us to publish your reflection (we may edit for clarity/anonymity)

You can choose how you'd like to be identified:
- Fully anonymous: "Anonymous - Adult Nurse, Hospital Setting"
- Initials: "S.M. - Mental Health Nurse, Community"
- First name: "Sarah - Newly Qualified Midwife"
- Experience level: "Experienced Children's Nurse with 15 years practice"
